Itinerary

Day 1: Cultural Guided Tour of Fes

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, your private tour guide will meet with you at 09 am with whom you’ll explore the best of Fes. You’ll initially drive uphill to take pictures of the Fes el-Bali (Oldest Fes) while learning about the history behind its foundation & why it was listed by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Fes el-Bali is the largest car-free urban districts in the world. Drive to the Mellah (Jewish Quarter) where you can take few pictures by the golden gates of the Royal Palace, then stretch your legs in the vibrant former Jewish Market.

Now, it’s time to get into the heart of the mysterious Medina of Fes with its lined cafes, bazaars, labyrinthine alleyways, Medersas (Koranic Schools), Museums…You’ll appreciate how people adapt themselves to the Medieval lifestyle as no cars can get access within the Medina only mules & donkeys. Visit the Chouara Tanneries where leather is made using traditional ingredients & methods, then pass by the Qarawiyyin University & Mosque (the Oldest formal university in the Islamic World)…In the late afternoon, your tour guide & driver will escort you back to your Riad/Hotel. 

Day 2: Fes - Ifran - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Merzouga Desert

Today, you’ll start your expedition down to the Sahara Desert of Erg Chebbi a bit earlier as it will entail many hours of driving; however, the journey is enjoyable with so many attractions you’ll encounter. Have a short break in the charming Ifran city with its ski resort turning it into one of the most visited cities in winter & summer times. We will include another short break in the UNESCO listed cedar forest that hosts a colony of Barbary Macaques that you can approach and possibly feed.

After lunch in Midelt, you’ll cross the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, then the Ziz Gorge before including another stop in the panoramic Ziz Valley with its countless palm trees. Drive through Erfoud to the Sahara Desert of Merzouga where a warm welcome with mint tea as a Moroccan ritual by the staff members of the hotel. Have a nice dinner by the pool under the stars or in the restaurant.

Day 3: Explore The Desert Area & Camel Trek

After having breakfast, you’ll spend most of the day exploring what the desert region has to offer. Drive alongside the giant sand dunes to the oasis of Merzouga where you can learn about the old traditional system of irrigation knowns as “Khettaras”. Cross the village of Merzouga to the Khamlia Village that is resided by people with dark complexion who were brought as slaves from the Sub-Saharan Lands. They perform a spiritual music knowns as Gnawa to their guest-visitors making, as a result, as a source of income to the families.

Later, we will have a complete tour around the sand dunefield of Erg Chebbi. En route, we will include a visit to a nomad family to share a mint tea with them while learning about their lifestyle and how they have been enduring the toughness of nature. In here, simplicity & generosity grace in every home. In the late afternoon, you’ll saddle you camels up for an adventurous experience in the golden sand dunes while enjoying the breathtaking views of the sunset with the possibility to do the sandboarding. Return to our luxury desert camp where you’ll have a delicious dinner within our tented restaurant or under the stars.

Day 4: Merzouga Desert - Erfoud - Tinjdad - Dades Valley

Wake up early to climb up the sand dune where you can enjoy one of the miraculous views of the sunrise. After having breakfast under the sunlight or in the restaurant and after taking a refreshing shower, we will resume our journey to the Dades Valley by including a short break in Erfoud, which is known for the excavation of fossils and minerals with many factories follow steps from excavation to polishing. Erfoud is also known for the production of dates and we may possibly visit the local dates market to learn about the different varieties of dates. 

You’ll continue on the track to the impressive Todra Gorge, which is a high cliff that has been an attraction to mountain climbers & trekkers. You can stretch your legs while enjoying the stunning views before continuing on the track to the Dades Valley where we will spend the night.

Day 5: Dades Valley - Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - Marrakech

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, you’ll resume your journey to Marrakech with a nice drive through the lush valley of Roses with the possibility to include a stop so that you can learn about the extraction of rose water from the roses as well as similar products. Cross Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa) to the dramatic & UNESCO listed Ait Benhaddou Village with its striking Kasbahs (fortresses) by the edge of hill. Have a guided walking tour of the village to learn about the lifestyle and how the village was a very important commercial center with camel caravans traversing the Sahara Desert from Marrakech.

You’ll, then, drive through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m). We’ll reach Marrakech in the late afternoon.

For citizens of many countries, you do not need a visa to enter Morocco. You will receive an entry stamp in your passport upon arrival.

You do not need to apply for a tourist visa for the Morocco Tour if you are a citizen of the United States, Canada, Australia, Great Britain or any of the other countries listed here.

You will need a passport that is valid for six months beyond your stay and a round-trip airline ticket. The passport must have at least one blank page.
